So Ruby on Rails not only starts up really slow, even after it gets running it's still very, very slow, and this is just doing Hello World. Finally got Ruby 1.9.2 and Rails 3.2 up and running and installed all gems, but now getting this. 1) Install RoR using the command “gem update rails” in the terminal. In PHP you need to have MAMP (or some other apache installation) set up and configured, point it to the directory, set up a new virtual host….guh! I've got the same exact issue while trying to get my app running on my Bluehost account. I just want to run my application real quick to check something. Unlike Ruby on Rails on Mac, installing this stuff requires some work on Windows. We ended up installing it outside of our server farm at a 3rd party host. Apache+Mongrel is shaping up to be the preferred deployment platform for Rails applications. This article will show you how to start development of a Rails 3.2 application running on Ruby 1.9.3 – all on RHEL 6, using only RPM packages, alongside your default Ruby installation. 2) Install RubyGem from http://docs.rubygems.org/ and run “ruby setup.rb”. Our CTO only works with Windows servers and the Rails site ended up being a major headache to try to get running on windows. I will show you how to install the necessary tools, and get a first application up and running. 3) Simply run “gem install rails” and basically you're done.
